The Security Services and Management (SMT) program prepares students for careers in law enforcement and in public and private security. One part of its curriculum focuses on the legal concepts and practices relating to criminal law and criminal investigation. Another part covers the development and implementation of security systems for public and private areas and facilities.
Students are taught by instructors who have real-world experience in law enforcement and security services.

The Security Services and Management program includes the opportunity for students to prepare for and earn the New York State-mandated certificate that qualifies them to be licensed as a security guard. The completion of 60 college credits can serve as one of the qualifications for employment with the NYPD.
Course Requirements for the Associate in Applied Science (AAS) degree in Security Services and Management (HEGIS #5505). The program length is 16 months or four semesters.
